Description

1. Product Introduction

The Rotary Drum Dryer is an industrial drying machine featuring a slightly inclined, rotating cylindrical body. It is designed to process materials with specific moisture levels or particle sizes, reducing high-moisture solids to a precise required range through efficient heat exchange.

  • Core Structure: Primarily consists of the cylindrical shell, front and rear rolling rings (tyres), gear drive assembly, supporting rollers (trunnions), thrust rollers, and sealing devices.

  • System Configuration: Operates as a complete system alongside a heat source (such as a hot blast stove), feeding equipment, cyclone dust collectors, and induced draft fans.

  • Target Materials: Widely used for slag, limestone, coal powder, metal powders, compound fertilizers, sawdust, and various chemical raw materials.

2. Performance Features

The Rotary Drum Dryer remains a dominant force in heavy industry due to several key advantages:

  • Massive Processing Capacity: High single-unit throughput capable of meeting the demands of continuous, large-scale industrial production.

  • Low Fluid Resistance: Minimal air resistance within the drum leads to lower power consumption for airflow management.

  • High Operational Flexibility: Exceptional adaptability to varying material properties (such as fluctuations in particle size or moisture content); it allows for significant production volume swings without compromising product quality.

  • Stable & Reliable Operation: Highly mechanized with a robust structure, ensuring low maintenance costs and an extended service life.

  • Ease of Cleaning: The simple internal structure can be fitted with specialized lifting flights or cleaning devices to prevent material adhesion.

3. Working Principle

The core efficiency of a rotary dryer lies in the maximum contact between the material and hot air. Its process can be summarized as: "Lifting, Scattering, and Heat Exchange."

Core Operational Stages:

  1. Inclined Rotation: The drum is installed at a 3° to 5° incline relative to the horizon. As the drum rotates, gravity drives the material toward the lower discharge end.

  2. Lifting Flights (Lifting & Showering): Internal flights lift the material to a certain height as the drum rotates, then shower it down evenly to create a "material curtain."

  3. Heat Exchange Process:

    • Co-current Flow: Hot air and material move in the same direction (ideal for heat-sensitive materials).

    • Counter-current Flow: Hot air and material move in opposite directions, providing a higher temperature gradient and superior drying efficiency. During the fall through the "curtain," the material undergoes intense heat and mass transfer with the high-temperature air, causing rapid moisture evaporation.

  4. Discharge & Purification: Dried material is discharged from the lower end. The exhaust air, containing moisture and fine dust, is processed through a dust collection system before being released.
