Description

1. Product Introduction

The Ring Die Granulator is a high-pressure extrusion device that forms granules by forcing raw materials through the holes of a rotating circular die (the Ring Die) using internal press rollers.

  • Applications: Widely used in the processing of livestock and aquatic animal feed, the production of biomass fuel pellets (wood chips/straw), and the manufacturing of high-density chemical fertilizers.

  • Output Form: The equipment produces uniform cylindrical pellets. The diameter typically ranges from 2mm to 12mm, while the length can be precisely adjusted using integrated cutting knives.

2. Performance Features

Compared to other granulation methods, the Ring Die Granulator offers several distinct advantages for industrial operations:

  • High Output & Efficiency: Designed for large-scale, continuous industrial production using a forced-feeding mechanism and high-speed extrusion.

  • Superior Pellet Quality: Due to extreme mechanical pressure, the pellets feature high density, a smooth surface, and high hardness, making them resistant to breakage during transport and easy to store.

  • Broad Material Adaptability: Particularly effective for materials with high fiber content (such as sawdust or hay) or those with poor natural binding properties.

  • Advanced Automation: Modern units are equipped with automatic lubrication systems and overload protection devices, significantly reducing downtime and maintenance labor.

  • Commercial Appeal: Produces pellets with highly uniform specifications, meeting the requirements for commercial packaging and automated feeding systems.

3. Working Principle

The Ring Die granulation process is essentially a "forced extrusion" operation through a specialized mold.

Core Process Stages:

  1. Conditioning (Optional but Vital): Before entering the pelleting chamber, materials often pass through a conditioner where steam is introduced to moisten and soften them, increasing their natural stickiness.

  2. Forced Feeding: Materials enter the rotating ring die. Centrifugal force spreads the material evenly across the internal surface of the die.

  3. Extrusion & Compression: Inside the die, 2 to 3 press rollers rotate against the inner wall. As the die turns, the material is forced into the die holes under extreme pressure (50–100 MPa). The resulting high temperature causes the lignin (in wood) or starch (in grain) to gelatinize, acting as a natural binder.

  4. Cutting & Discharge: As the compressed material is extruded from the outer side of the ring die in cylindrical strands, fixed knives cut them to a uniform length. The finished pellets then fall into the discharge port for cooling.
