Description
1. Product Introduction
The Disc Granulator, also known as a Pan Granulator, is a specialized device that aggregates powdered materials into spherical granules through the rotation of an inclined disc. It is typically integrated with conveyors, crushers, and mixers to form a complete production line.
Key Applications:
-
Fertilizer Production: Processing various raw powders into compound or organic fertilizer granules.
-
Chemical Industry: Granulation of catalysts, additives, and various chemical agents.
-
Metallurgy & Coal: Pelletizing of ore fines, coal dust, and metallic powders.
-
Environmental Protection: Treatment and recycling of industrial dust, sludge, and solid waste.
2. Performance Features
The Disc Granulator remains an industry staple due to its efficiency and reliability:
-
Uniform Granulation: The disc features an automatic classification function (larger pellets rise to the surface while smaller particles remain at the bottom to grow). This ensures highly uniform granule diameters and a granulation rate exceeding 93%.
-
Flexible Adjustment: Both the inclination angle (typically $35^\circ$ to $55^\circ$) and the rotation speed can be precisely adjusted based on material characteristics to control granule size and strength.
-
Robust Construction: The disc base is reinforced with multiple radial steel plates for superior rigidity. The heavy-duty, stable base design allows for smooth operation often without the need for fixed anchor bolts.
-
Low Maintenance Costs: Critical components, such as the large girth gear, undergo high-frequency quenching for an extended service life. The disc is typically lined with high-strength FRP (Fiberglass) or corrosion-resistant stainless steel to prevent material buildup and chemical corrosion.
3. Working Principle
The machine utilizes a wet granulation process that combines "compaction nucleation" with "rolling agglomeration."
Core Operational Stages:
-
Feeding: Premixed dry powder materials enter the rotating disc.
-
Liquid Spraying: A spray system located above the disc distributes water or binding agents evenly onto the moving powder.
-
Nucleation: As the powder becomes moistened, it generates friction. Under the combined forces of centrifugal force, gravity, and friction, the material begins to form tiny "nuclei" at the bottom of the disc.
-
Rolling Growth: As the disc continues to rotate, these nuclei roll like "snowballs," continuously adsorbing surrounding powder and gradually increasing in diameter.
-
Automatic Classification & Discharge: Due to their mass, larger granules migrate to the surface and roll toward the disc's edge by centrifugal force, eventually overflowing (discharging) automatically. Undersized particles remain in the disc for further growth.
Key Parameters: The quality of the final granules is primarily determined by four factors: Disc Inclination Angle, Rotation Speed, Water Spray Volume, and Material Fineness.
